Non-Surgical Treatments
The outcome of cosmetic surgery is greatly affected by the quality of your skin. A regimen of good skin care can improve the skin's
condition and enhance as well as preserve your post operative result. In addition to a daily cleanser, we recommend tri-weekly up to nightly
use of vitamin A products such as Retin A or retinol that can cause removal of the top layer of the skin and allow the bottom layers to rejuvenate.
The daily use of antioxidants such as vitamin C, Ferulic acid, and Phloretin also enhance the skin’s natural protection against environmental damage.
These products can even enhance the effectiveness of your sun block, another very important member of the skin care team. We are impressed with the
Skinceutical product line as it takes both scientific and naturalistic approaches to skin care. Our skin care specialist, Sarah Jones, who is
both a registered nurse and licensed cosmetologist, can customize a program to help you achieve your personal skin car goals.
Non-surgical uses of botox and dermal fillers have an important place in our practice of aesthetic surgery. These techniques can serve to hide
the early signs of aging. They also offer a "quick fix" to looking your best when a short recovery is needed and complement the outcomes of more
invasive procedures. Injected with skill, BOTOX® Cosmetic is a very safe way to soften the wrinkles caused by facial expressions. It usually takes
a week to work and lasts up to 4 months. BOTOX® temporarily deactivates the muscles that cause those undesirable wrinkles. Dermal fillers can be
directly injected into the facial folds, depressions, and persistent wrinkles to improve these areas. A few days of swelling and bruising can be
expected but these quickly fade. This treatment lasts 9 to 12 months. Sometimes a combination of both types of products is needed for optimal results.
One of our plastic surgeons, Dr. Paulsen, an expert in this field, utilizes advanced techniques to give you the best possible results. He also serves
as part of the national education faculty training other physicians to use these products.
Spider vein treatment is also available. Sclerotherapy is the technique of injecting a mild sclerosing agent into the superficial small veins
just under the skin that causes them to collapse and fade from view. Best results occur when the patient can wear compression wraps on the legs
for 2 weeks after treatment.
